Teresa's Learning Squad

I was working full-time with 3 kids at home and one of my kids was really struggling with school and he was only in Kindergarten!

😢I tried everything to help him with his school work.

» I met with teachers.

» I enrolled him in counseling.

» I cut back my hours so I could help him earlier in the day.

» We would spend hours every day trying to finish uncompleted work and homework.

» He was so exhausted and started to hate going to school.

Does this sound familiar?

After a lot of support from his counselor, teacher, and lots of one on one help with my time off, he was able to catch up and keep up with his schooling and his disposition improved so much! I know that this sounds like so many kids out there and not everyone has the one on one help that they need.  This really helped me see how much students need individualized attention.

Teaching was and is my passion!

I earned my teaching credential while working in the classroom and taught for several years. I learned so much about different learning styles and how important it is to make learning fun, relatable, and as personalized as possible for 38 students each period. It was quite challenging, but also fun.

I enrolled in many professional development courses because I enjoyed teaching so much and I wanted to learn everything I could to be the absolute best teacher for my students.

Then, distance learning happened.  I had to learn how to teach online like most teachers across the country.  It was so hard, but I learned everything I could and I used all my previous skills to create efficient well planned lessons that my students actually enjoyed.  My theme that year was "Learning is Fun."

Teaching online has incredible benefits!

I also learned that students really need one-on-one help, just like my son did. I had set up my classroom so I could check in with students INDIVIDUALLY.  It was so eye-opening. This was something I could never do in person in my classroom.  Being online made it possible to have these one-on-one tutoring sessions with students each period.  I kept track to make sure I checked in with every student as much as possible, but most especially with my struggling students.

Students really need personalized learning, most especially struggling students.

I realized that there are so many kids that are not receiving the help they need because they really need personalized learning that is tailored to how they learn and at a pace that challenges them without overwhelming them.  And all children are so unique!

I am passionate about helping kids learn.

That's why I chose to become a tutor.
