What is your education and/or experience?

I was a public school teacher and I helped so many children with one on one tutoring during my lunch breaks and after school.  This was when I learned that students really need one on one help.  I also have 3 children who at various times were in public school and homeschooled (including one who is still in public school and in 11th grade!)  Homeschooling my children helped them because they were able to receive the exact lessons they needed at their pace and challenge.  Also, I have spent years tutoring across many subjects.  I have also been trained and have access to amazing educational programs like Raz Kidz, Pearson, IXL, and so many more!  Having a wide variety of resources for kids helps them stay engaged and master their learning so much better than just using one resource to do it all.

How did you figure out how to tutor online?

I learned how to teach 100% digitally during the school shutdowns of 2020.  I taught myself how to create a successful online learning environment that benefited my students so they would look forward to attending class and learn what they needed to stay on track.  Now I teach from home so I can create a unique and engaging tutoring service to help children succeed who need it most.  I can help children meet and exceed their grade level expectations for math and reading so much better as a tutor than as a teacher.

What types of children have you worked with?

I've worked with public schooled and homeschooled children in grades K-8.  Some children I've worked with have speech impediments, ADHD, low self-esteem, high self-esteem, are excited to learn and just need a boost, and feel anxious about learning because of a bad experience with a teacher.  In other words, I work with a large variety of students who just need one on one instruction that is personalized and tailored for them.

How long does tutoring take to show results?

Each student has very unique needs so tutoring could be long-term or short-term.

The shortest amount of time I've tutored a student was 2 days.  She needed help with understanding 3-digit subtraction.  It only took two 25-minute sessions for her to understand this concept well enough to complete her math problems with fluency and ease. Mom had been trying to teach her, but it just didn't make sense to her so she just needed tutoring in one small area of math.

I also had another student who struggled with reading.  He was a first-grade student, but his reading was at a pre-K level in the middle of his 1st-grade year.  After he started tutoring with me, he increased an entire grade level after working hard for 16 sessions.  He was so excited he could finally read!

How much do the tutoring sessions cost?

For children in grades K-2, I recommend at least two or more 25-minute sessions per week.

For children in grades 3-8, I recommend at least two or more 50-minute sessions per week.

Each 25-minute session = $30

Each 50-minute session = $60

During our consultation, we will discuss which session length is better for your child.  The above are average recommendations, but of course, each child is unique and may require something different.
